New Hampshire Milken Educator Jillian Brickley created the annual “Brickley Bowl” for her fifth graders at Charlotte Avenue Elementary School in Nashua. For the week before the Super Bowl, Brickley operates her classroom like a football game and integrates facts about the sport into daily subjects. The boys and girls represent the Super Bowl teams and earn “yards” for each question they answer correctly. Brickley and her students say that in addition to making learning fun, the Brickley Bowl builds camaraderie and teamwork.

    Art -

Sports can be a great opportunity for abstracted gesture drawing. Try drawing the players in motion. Using the colors in the team uniforms, plus green for the grass, draw the shapes that you see on the screen. See if you can capture the feeling of all the people smashing into each other.
